Handcrafted in Lima, Peru using traditional techniques

Story behind the art: Mr. Velasquez started his job as a carpenter with his father in his own house. He has learned from his father how to work with wood and leather. In the 70's the furniture with carved leather was very famous. In the 80's Mr. Velasquez opened his own small factory and started with the export business, but still kept the leather furniture line. Since starting work with Overstock they have opened a new furniture line. The combination of glass and painting included in the furniture give us a very good result. After a year the factory was to small to attain all orders. So they found a new factory with a better location. Now working with 30 employees, they have their own oven for drying the wood. They are very happy that Overstock gave us the possibility to grow up and give him a better life quality.The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

"I really liked this piece when we first got it. It seemed sturdy and I liked the colors. However, within a few months, the paint/veneer began to pull away from the frame of the wood. The entire top edges (around the cushion) are all bubbled. The piece looks as if it had gotten wet somehow (which, to my knowledge, it has not). Also, from the day it arrived, the inside has a horrible odor."

"The only issue was the packaging was bad and so the sides were damaged. Its a great bench for the entryway to sit and wear your shoes etc. I like the colors/pattern on the doors but the maroon color of the cushion and the cloth used is not that great. I'm going to make a cover for it. Its pretty to look at. The wood is more blackish and the pattern more maroon than orange"

"This is a well made, sturdy and handsome piece of furniture. One big complaint - it smells like ant [or bug] spray and I had to air it out for 4 or 5 days before I could put it in by bedroom. It still retains a residual odor, which I hope will go away over time. That is the only negative to this piece. Other than that it is amazingly well made and beautiful addition to any home."

"The bench is a good looking bench. The color is vibrant. The style is also unique. The item came with some damage at the right hand corner at the back on the wood part. I believe it is damaged from shipping, but every reviewers mentioned the damage with the piece so it is not clear if the damage came from the manufacture. Since it is at the back against the wall, I did not choose to return.
The only unsatisfaction is that the bench is rather small, it is almost minature size. With that in mind, I thought the price of the item is rather high for its value."

"after reading the reviews for a month, a finally decided to buy this bench..just as everyone said it has some minor nicks althought it came perfectly packed, therefore i believed they were made in the place of origin...the smell of the paint can be a bit overwhelming, but easily taken care of by leaving the doors open and letting it air out for the night...the one thing that i was disappointed on its the color of the cushion, it's an purplish red....well i took care of that by just leaving the cushion out, it actually looks more of a seat if u do this...just perfect for what i need...overall its a good product..a keeper.."

"Our living space is so small that every inch must count and storage space is at a premium. We needed a bench for the foot of the bed and could not afford to have one without storage. This bench fits the bill. It is very attractive though there are some small, damaged areas on two corners. I plan to sand and repair myself. I was very pleased that it was put together and I simply removed it from its box and put it in place. Some of the reviewers said the color was more red than orange and I was very pleased since one of my accent colors is paprika/burnt orange. It works beautifully."

"I was worried about the quality when ordering. It arrived with peeling paint on the back top, and some bubbling paint (water damage?) on the right. Since it was already out of the box, and I did not want to go through the trouble returning it. My guests actually think these "damages" are part of the character of the "Aging" design of the bench... Overall, it is a great looking bench and I love the strong color."
