By Myshock
from Pensacola, FL
"I have never sewn anything much less even thought I would ever know how do embroidery, but this machine is awesome...I had it set up and working fine in just one hour. This is my new hobby. The embroidery feature is easy after you figure out the tension settings and I have made awesome creations for my son. It is very easy to switch the machine back and forth from sewing. It was refrub. but looked just like new to me; I would recommendend to any new hobbyist. EASY and fun!! This is a very theraputic hobby; talk about stress relief."

I am surprised at how nice this machine works,
June 12, 2006

"I bought this machine as just a toy while my 17 year old Swiss machine went in to a refurbishing( I paid $2500 for that in 1988). I also wanted to try out an embroidery machine to see if I really wanted one.
So, I am used to a quality machine that delivers consistent stitching on a variety of materials.
I am surprised at how well this machine sews, how much fun the little features are: automatic threading cassette, automatic thread cutter-what a blessing!.
It took a few days to get used to the computerized screen after using a mechanical for so many years.
The embroidery machine is very nice and also takes optional cards. It does a beautiful job.
On the downside, it has a lot of plastic parts which may not be durable.
Overall, this machine is a great value, fun, and easy to use. I am really surprised at how nice it is."

Great experience, great value,
October 3, 2007
By JTStanley

"I bought this for my wife and she absolutely loves it. The price was the best I could find and it only cost like $3 to ship it!! The only problem I found wasn't even technical, but the instruction book was a photocopy (because it was refurbished) and it was hard to see the different colors of thread. Other than that the performance is wonderful."

Just one thing I am not happy with.,
October 2, 2007
By Stitcher62
from Surprise, AZ
"The machine is great, it's very easy to use and I am very happy with it's performance. The thing that concerns me is the Manuals. They came (Operation Manual -Quick Reference Guide and Disney Design Guide)in black and white, with the embroidery end of it you need the manuals in color so that you can see what is recommended. I have e-mailed the manufacturer two times and have not heard a word."

Brother SE270D Sewing Machine,
September 29, 2007
By Tacksi
from McCalla, AL
"I love buying from Overstock.com because it is a practical way to save money and know that the products are dependable. The Brother sewing embroidery machine I ordered was a factory refurbished one. A part was missing (anyone can make a mistake) but it was sent immediately to me, without any questions or further cost to me. The machine does exactly what the advertisement states and I am enjoying all the stitches that are available. The best thing for me, since I am vision impaired is the ease in loading the thread and bobbin, and the bonus of threading the needle. The best thing I have purchased in a long long time."

Fulfilled Daughter's Dream,
September 24, 2007
By Radiant1228

"This machine is so fabulous for the price. My daughter was longing for an embroidery machine but all she saw were out of her budget. I gave her this one for her birthday and she is delighted. It sews beautifully. She was able to get additional designs and the software to put them on the machine with a card. I highly recommend this machine."

"I didn't think I was interested in an embroidery machine but, since I have a new grandchild, this machine has been delightful to work with. I bought it for its sewing capabilities, but I have purchased Ped-Basic and am having a lot of fun embroidering all sorts of items. The machine is easy to learn how to use, and the owners manual is helpful."

Great Machine & Simple to Use!,
September 10, 2007
By 0531sgj
from Roswell, GA
"I bought this machine on a whim... I have never sewed before but always wanted to and I was really intrigued by the embroidery capabilities. The machine arrived and after looking over the manual briefly, I was up and running and sewed/embellished and embroidered dish towels and burp cloths in the first night! Everything was really easy to use and understand. The only down side is that the machine seems very fragile (however, that may not be exclusive or a negative to this machine... Not having sewed before, I have not had a lot of experience with sewing machines). The only other negative is that it is a tight squeeze trying to get the embroidery hoop into place on the machine. The clearance seems to be no more than a 1/4 inch. And the patterns the machine come with aren't all that great and left me wanting to buy more embroidery pattern options.
But, overall it is a great machine and seems to be perfect for the new sewer or someone with much more experience as well. I thought the price was great and I would definitely recommend it."

Learning with a smile:-),
September 6, 2007
By KatieLou

"I have had limited experiences with sewing machines and as my old one needed repairing again or replacing I decided to splurge and buy this Brother SE270D.
I am very happy with my decision!
I did take the time to read the manual first and so far all of my sewing experiments have been successful; even the monogramming has been easy. The LCD screen sure makes it simple to follow their guidelines.
I only wish that it had come with a hard-case for storing."
