"I wanted a compact vac for my 2nd floor (so I wouldn't have to lug the big heavy one up & down stairs) and so I decided to try this little Royal, mainly because I've always heard that it's a good brand. I received my vacuum quickly, and have used it for several weeks now. I'm very pleased with it's performance. It has good suction power, and it's small lightweight size makes it handy for use on stairs & when cleaning out the car. I have several cats & a dog (that sheds fine wooly hair), and this vac picks it up well. It also works well with the litter that gets tracked out of the cat box. It's probably better on my wood & tile floors than on the rugs, but it actually does a better than expected job there, too. Also, the bag holds more than I thought it would, considering it's small size.
The only drawback (which was also mentioned by another reviewer) is the short hose (the rigid section). I'm 5'10" & don't find it too uncomfortable to use for short periods of time, but I wouldn't want to use this machine for extensive cleaning.
All in all, I think it's a very good 2nd vac or a vac for small apartments"

"This is a great vacuum! I live in a smallish 2 bedroom apartment with all hard floor surfaces having the occasional area rug. This vacuum is designed mainly for hard surfaces, and smaller areas I would say. I wouldn't recommend it for a full size house or homes with lots of carpet. But for a smaller sized home with mainly hard surfaced flooring I highly recommend it. The smaller size of the unit makes it easy to store and get around while you are working with it. I love that it has some features you find on the larger more expensive models like the retractable cord and the filtration. I've had this unit for at least 6 months now and am very happy with it. I would recommend it and purchase again."

"The vacuum was a little over priced for the quality, but I can tell I will get years of good use from it. It is a nice sized vacuum, just what I wanted. The bag size surprised me, as it is very small, I am hopeful that they are not expensive to buy. The vacuum has great suction and nice attachment and cord features, my only complaints are that I wish the hose was a more flexible material and the bag was a little better ."

"I have two dogs, two kids, and a downstairs full of hard services. With traveling dirt and fur this vacuum is light to carry on your back and slim and heads rotate to chase dust bunnies under couches and in corners behind furniture without moving. The floor brushes and attachments are top quality. Does not work great on carpet, but will keep my upright for upstairs."

"I have a one bedroom one bathroom condo with bamboo floor so this vacuum is perfect for me. The only reason why I didn't give it 5start is this is a bad vacuum. I wanted a bagless one but none of them is as good as this one."

"This thing is beyond terrible if you ever intend to use it on a carpet or
rug. Though perfectly fine for bare floors, the main attachment has no
rollers on it, so when the brush bristles are extended to vacuum
anything other than a bare floor, you're basically giving your rug an
unhealthy scrape. And unless you're vacuuming a carpet that's tacked to
the floor, even the lowest suction setting will grab the rug, which
means that you can really only move in a single direction if you don't
want that area rug moved to an entirely new location. And then there's
the fact that using this sucker requires more back-wrenching elbow
grease than any chore should ever require in this day and age. Please
don't waste your money on this raging disappointment. It's a
chiropractor's dream and will leave you needing anger management
classes. My hand-held Dust Buster does a better job. At least it has a
rotating brush....."

"I read other reviews so I knew what I was buying. It is small, light, powerful, and does a great job cleaning our ceramic tile floors. I considered purchasing a more expensive vacuum but I'm happy I picked this one. It's not built like a tank so we can't treat it like one. If you let your kids play with it, it probably won't last very long."

"This is a good product on hardwood floors- however, does not work well on carpet. It does not leave that "just cleaned look" on the carpet- but does suck up the dirt. I have two cats, a one year old daughter and a husband- so this is good for the quick clean ups, but not for a deep clean feel/look."

"I haven't had this vac for too long, but so far I love it. It is tiny, but so is my apartment. I have two small kids, a husband and a cat--so I use it nearly every day. I love the fact that it can be pulled out quickly to clean up the two-year-old's playdough crumbles and is light enough to carry up the ladder to vacuum up cobwebs on the ceiling and dust the fan."

"I have all hardwoods and an area rug. This vacuum is perfect for that. It's probably not the best if you have all carpets, but for me, it's great! It's very lightweight and the different attachments are useful. I wish the hose was a little sturdier, but I haven't had any problems with it yet. Great vacuum, great price!!"

"I wanted a vac that would do bare floors. I did not want to pay for a 'carpet beater head'. It had to have an autocord wind up which is hard to find unless you pay for lots of extras. This simple machine fit the bill perfectly.
Yes the plastic hose gets twisted sometimes, but the telescoping wand (for storage) makes up for it. It can fit in the bottom of the coat closet and not interfere with the coats.
