"I live in a house built in the twenties. To say the least, dust is my enemy. The vacuum keeps my floors clean and the filter keeps the dust from accumulating on my furniture so much. The vacuum is easy to manuver and has plenty of power to handle even the deepest cleaning jobs. On the flip side, you can reduce the power so that you can find the serfect setting for different floor types. The retractable cord makes putting the vacuum up a cinch, and it fits nicely into any tall closet.
A few days after I had used my Royal for the first time, my mother in law asked if we had gotten the floors polished. You can't get a much better compliment than that!"

"I purchased this cleaner because of the reviews. After using it I found that I agreed with the other reviews on both the positive and negative points. I love the power it has and it is very quiet which keeps from scaring my chihuahuas as much as my other vaccum. However as one of the other reviews said, the hoses are stiff and that makes it hard to handle and move about easily. And the hoses don't seem to be made of a very durable material, only time will tell. If the hose problem could be solved, it would get a 5 star rating from me."

"I have had this vacuum not quite a year and Im very disappointed in how poorly it has held up. For a Royal I expected more quality. The electrical plug has already come off( had to have that repaired), the suction is poor, and the plastic attachments break easily."

"This is a good overall canister vac. Has a lot of suction and really cleans. I've only had for a month but like it. I really like the cord rewind, which is a button rather than pulling on the cord. The power head has a lot of power. There are a few things that I wish were different. First of all the hose seems stiff and not very durable (but only time will tell). There are two suction control valves. One is on the base and is very cool. The quick control is on the handle right where you put your hand, and I tend to open it by accident frequently. Hopefully in time I'll get used to that. For the money, I'd say it is a good value."

"This was a purchase for our lake house, which has predominantly wood floors. I have to sweep every day, and vacuum just as often. I needed a vacuum that could easily go between wood and area rugs. this is the machine for the job! I has great suction, and was easy to put together. I've never owned a canister before, but, and super impressed with this machine."

"I've had this vacuum about a month now. First off. the hose is stiff,and doesn't flex well at all. The conections are very poorly placed, the cord is very short.and does not rewind half the time. the on and off button is very hard to get it turned on. over all I would not buy again. I don't think it is going to last very long. I will probably go back to the kenmore, that I replaced."

"I am very happy with this product. I purchased it to use on the second floor of my home and was just hoping for "adequate". This vacumn cleaner could easily take the place of my more expensive model I use for the main floor. The suction is excellent and it is easy to use and move. The bags are available locally. Great product at an exceptionally reasonable price. This model sells for more online elsewhere (like double the overstocks price). The Royal products are made by a small company and the pride in workmanship is evident."

"I have two young boys at home and the vacuum couldn't handle them. The handle broke less than 3 days I had it....luckily I it was under warranty. The outlet cord and length of vacuum handle are way too short. I can't go into a room without unplugging it. It gets to be very annoying. Also because the hose attaches on top of the canister instead of infront, it is constantly running into walls because the steering is poor. I recommend the hoover canister....the royal is overrated!"

"I was looking for a good canister vacuum, and the Royal is a good value for the money. It handles both hardwoods and carpet well. Good suction, but the attachments are not very sturdy.
The vacuum head lays flat to get under furniture much better than an upright. I would recommend this vacuum."

"I have a husband who has insisted on fixing an old, hateful vacuum. I finally said no more. We have 4 long hair cats and live on a dirt road. Need I say more. My place is a huge challenge for any vacuum. I thought I was going to choke it to death the first time I used it but it was amazing (disgusting) what it sucked up. I love this vacuum. Down side is the bags are a little small and I had a hard time finding them in town. Went online and ordered 30 -- they ran well under $1 each. I'm happy"

"The overstock price on the vacuum is fabulous. This vacuum sucks up anything. I have 3 small kids and a dog with mostly bare floors. I haven't had any problems with a stiff hose or the cord being too short like in other reviews. The vacuum seems sturdy so far. This vacuum makes vacuuming a little more enjoyable."

"This vacuum cleaner really does the job! I have 2 huge dogs who shed a lot and this gets all their hair up the first time. My old cleaner used to make my arm and shoulder hurt from pushing it and the Royal just seems to glide over the floor ."

"I bought this vacuum based on the great reviews I read about it. I was not disappointed. This vacuum is great! It has great suction which is a plus since I have 4 long haired cats. I also needed a vacuum that would make an easy transition from bare floors to carpet. It did! I had a bagless vac before this and was not thrilled with it. I am glad that I returned to a traditional "bag" vacuum. So much cleaner and less messy. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good, solid vacuum that is lightweight and easy to manuever."

"I purchased this vacuum in June 06. I have since had to send it to be repaired TWICE in 18 months! Fortunatley there is a 2 year warranty, but I don't anticipate it will last much longer than the 2 year mark. Would not recommend, secondary to poor reliability and requires frequent repairs."

"I have a Dyson (for pet hair) upright vacuum cleaner and it's a little hard for me to get around a small apartment with it. So I ordered this canister vacuum. The price was right and it is smaller and easier to maneuver. The suction, of course, isn't like the Dyson, but it does a perfectly fine job for someone who lives alone. Not sure it would stand up to shedding pets, though. Great value and good product. I do wish Overstock would sell the bags that are needed for this product."
