"I'll admit I have a rather twisted sense of humor -- and this epitomizes it perfectly! This is a quality item -- nice heavy base, sturdy construction (you attach the figure to the base with screws), nicely weighted and balanced knives. The holder even includes clear plastic blade covers attached to the holder so there's no chance of accidentally cutting yourself as you remove and insert the knives into the holder. The knives wash just fine in the dishwasher (I remove mine and dry them by hand). I use the serrated bread knife a lot, along with the two paring knives and the chef's knife. If you want something a little different but also high quality, you'll probably like this. I always get comments from visitors, as I have this sitting on my counter in full view. I liked mine so much I bought one in red for my brother, who had gone through a very nasty and protracted divorce a couple of years ago. Highly recommended!"

"This set looks so cool, I love it! The quality is acceptable, the knives are all one piece stainless steel and wash good in the dishwasher. I did have to sharpen the knifes when I got them but thats ok. It looks awsome on the counter and is about 17 inches tall so it takes up a good amount of space. It was a bit expensive but its something that you won't find in stores. If you like unique stuff get this!"

"This knife set has dramatic visual impact, but surprisingly enough, not everyone likes it. (Tee hee) Howevver, most of MY friends LOVE IT. I know I do.
I selected white because it matches my kitchen, and frankly has the 'softest' visual impact. Its incredible and hard to describe. I cant imagine what the red or black sets look like. They must be seriously shocking.
It is HUGE. Please plan a large amount of counter space for this, unless you plan to put it like a center piece in the middle of your table. The base is the size of a dinner plate, and my cabinet door clears the the handle of the top knife by just 2 fingers width. If you have lower cabinets, this could be a problem. Be sure to check the measurements. The handle of the top knife is at 16 1/2 inches, the base 11" across. It needs room around it, definitely not built for small spaces.
I was impressed by the design. The magnets inside the unit at the top of the slots grab the knife as you put it in, and do a great job of keeping the cutting blade away from any surface contact that might dull the blade. I havent owned a knife set before, so I dont have a lot to compare to, but I really like these knives. They are a nice weight, not too heavy and not flimsey light. They are great looking, and happen to match the look of my silverware set. Very sleek, brushed stainless steel.
The knives seem to vary in sharpness, and are reasonably sharp. I could see why another reviewer said they had them immediately sharpened. If I cared more, i might bother with that, but thats pretty far down my list. One blade edge in particular seems off, the small one by its knee. It just even looks uneven. After my coffee I might drag out my little sharpener. I do like knowing that the knives come with a 25 year warranty.
Anyway, although at times I wonder about the energy of having something like this, it does crack me up every time I see it. At the very least, the edge of my mouth goes up in this little smirk. Thats worth something right there, isn't it? I dont think other knife sets can do that. ; )"

"The holder is really large, much larger than I expected. Its quite a conversation piece and the knives arent too shabby. My cutlery is usually very heavy and although these knives aren't as good as quality as my others they work just fine. I did need to sharpen the knives when this arrived. They seemed really dull. This is a great novelty item, although I probably wouldnt use this on a regular basis. more for show than anything."

"...is the first reaction someone has to seeing this in my kitchen. I waited a good long time for Vice Versa to put this piece into production and now that I have my own morbid conversation starter I couldn't be more tickled! And wouldn't you know...the knives are actually quite good--form and function! And I'd say it's about as safe as any other knife block. The slots are magnetized to hold the knives in place and they slide into semi-opaque plastic shields to prevent accidental cutting, but still keep it to the back of the counter and away from children."
