"This is a very cool kitchen item. The knife block is made of plastic, I would have prefered chrome, there are other sets, but I'm not sure if the silver sets are just plastic as well too.However, the price is quite fair to what they are charging in specialty kitchen supply stores, and the knifes are durable and sharp. They are held in place by a magnet in each slot, and each slot has a plastic case attached, shaped in the knife outline for safety. Its hard to tell in the photo provided.This is a great gift, after I purchsed it, I wish I would have purchased the set of two and given one to a friend, it is even a better deal when buying the set of two."

"Knife quality was very good and durable. Love the concept and the look, but its rather large and the plastic (although descent quality) looks a little cheap. At first i thought it was too big, but it grew on me after a few days. NOt for small kitchen counter space though. It makes for a fun but functional piece in the kitchen!"

"I was suprised when I opened the package as I should have read the description carefully before purchasing. I didnt realize that this was plastic and that it was so large. I thought it was comparative in size to the one shown and was metal or something more durable than plastic. I did still give it as a gift and my sister is very pleased with it. "I really love this and it looks super cute in my newly single after 5 years of marriage kitchen. People love it and its always a topic of conversation. Pros: Great looking, protective shields on the back so no accidental cuts while cleaning the counter, magnets keep knives in place and from cutting up the "ex" over time. Relives a bit of stress ;) Cons: the knives themselves are just OK. Now this comes from a girl who is known to be a total knife snob. But my ex took the 2000.00 knife set and so I needed something and couldnt afford to replace it. Overall. I'd buy it again for sure. I am however looking forward to the day I can replace the knives with better ones. But I'm sure I will keep the "ex" for some time."
