Excellent espresso/cappuccino,
March 12, 2008
By BCMINI
from McLean, VA
"I did a lot of research on Nespresso models, and a family member had the C190, which I originally wanted for its features and simplicity, but it's only available as a refurb, so I “compromised” and bought the D290. So far, a week into it, we love it, and are averaging 4-8 shots per day. The “manual” is poor (mostly pictures, little text), but making a good cappuccino with the D290 is so simple that anyone should be able to do it the first time. The only down side is that my two border collies now flip-out every time I make coffee due to the pump noise, though not quite as bad as when I used to grind my own coffee."

Great espresso macjine for the home,
January 2, 2008
By CALBEARS
from Los Angeles, CA
"We looked at lots of machines and reviews before we bought this machine. The pods make great, very fresh espresso. After our first month, we still haven't figured out the right technique for how to make good frothed milk for capuccinos (the Nespresso web site and papers that accompanied the machine are not particularly instructive as to how to properly froth using their steam device). D290 has easy clean up. All in all a great deal of value in a very simple machine."

D290 Looks and Works Great,
December 17, 2007
By LatteLover07

"D290 pros include:
* Looks great.
* Makes great cappuccinos with attachment
* Easy to clean
* Lots of loverly crema.
Cons include:
* Price (but Overstock had the best price)
I can't really speak to the durability, except that I've had it about 3 weeks and have had no problems; it does look durable."

nespresso rocks (if you can afford it),
December 16, 2007

"I have no other experience with espresso makers for comparison, but this one rocks! It looks good on the counter but has a lot of plastic so can't give it 5 stars. I do think the plastic is very durable and makes the machine lighter though, so is appropriate material. It is easy to use and very easy to clean up. Using the milk steamer for latte makes it relatively slow to make the drink because it takes a minute or so to switch gears from the milk function back to the espresso function. It also adds to clean up time, but no big deal. Be sure not to suck your milk cup dry or you will cause spattering. Also, run the espresso function once without a capsule to warm up the machine, especially if you keep you house cold like mine!
I put my regular coffee maker away and almost only drink espresso and an occasional cup or two of regular coffee using only my French press. It is cheaper than Starbucks, but not a lot because you have to use Nespresso capsules and so only get a pretty small drink out of the machine (about 6 oz or less including milk). The capsules are good (use those rated 8+ for drinks with milk), but I don't like being force into a monopoly and prefer to buy shade grown coffee. I drink 4 shots per morning (usually as lattes) at a cost of 50-60 cents a shot + shipping. I guess you have to pay for perfection in a cup. This machine does a great job if you can afford it and I am happy overall with mine. Overstocks.com had the best price around in Nov 2007 after an extensive search."

One of the best espresso machines on the market,
July 15, 2007
By CCPacifico
from Belle Harbor
"I have researched the price of this particular espresso machine and Overstock has the best price. Our friends have similar models and my husband and I purchased this item for an anniversary gift to ourselves. Customers should be aware that the coffee is expensive, but if you enjoy quality espresso then you will definitely appreciate this machine."

Product Manual & Steamer/Milk Froth,
March 15, 2007
By scoobydoo

"There product manual seems to have been written mainly for other countries to fully understand and could have more instructions on how to use. I bought the machine to make steamers more than expressos. I had done what little the manual had showed me to do and I could not get my caramel steamer drink. I am not much of a coffee drinker, so I was looking forward to my steamers. Needless to say I am not a happy customer of the Nepresso."
