Story Behind the Art:

'My art form was handed down to me from my parents and grandparents. But the quality of my work is the result of my long experience and the product of my careful observation over the years. I draw inspiration from our ancient Peruvian cultures, Andean village life, and from our snow-capped mountains.'

"I found this online just after we had purchased a smaller weaving and have spent the past year wishing we had gotten this one instead. I just bought it and, while things often do not live up to inflated expectations after such a long time, this definitely did. It looks just like the photo but the colors and the lines are much more impressive in person. This is a really nicely woven piece with cotton warp and wool weft (it's not a blend in a single thread) so that you just see the wool except at the very bottom where the warp is tied off in a fringe. The wool yarn is either hand spun or machine spun in such a way that it produces slight natural slubs that add to the character of the piece without disturbing the design. I am very pleased that we finally got this. It was well worth the wait."

"It is a really impressive hand-crafted tapestry with vivid colors and it seems to be signed within the tapestry by the artist. The only odd thing it arrived a little damp inside the protected envelope, so I don't know how that happened. No damage to the piece, just had to air it out because the wool smelled. Expect to wait awhile before it arrives, but worth it. Overstock should offer the tapestry rod for sale so you can hang it as soon as it arrives."
