"I bought these earphones for noise cancelling qualities. I have yet to find much difference in any environment. Ear pieces are comfortable and do most of the blocking. The active electronic blocking is minimal. You could achieve the same effect by purchasing regular cup style earphones."

"My friend has some "noise canceling" head phones but without the "boost" button that these have. We tested them out on our last flight and mine definitely cut out much more of the noise. I could just turn on the boost button and no music or anything and it gave a great white noise that really helped quiet that airplane drone sound. They were definitely a good buy."

I also use them at home and while I am no expert, I have to say the sound quality is wonderful. I'd highly recommend these headphones. "I ordered two pairs and they arrived in excellent condition. They are Christmas gifts but I did take them out and tried both of them with one of my music CD's.
