Eric Clapton - Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 (DVD)

Eric Clapton - Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 (DVD)

In 2004 the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, played host to the first Crossroads Guitar Festival--a musical event curated by Eric Clapton. The 2007 incarnation of the event followed a similar pattern to the first show, and features stars such as Jeff Beck, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, and Buddy Guy. Many of the musicians perform guest slots with other acts on the bill, making this a truly special occasion, and Clapton also uses the event to pay a moving tribute to the recently deceased Beatle George Harrison. All the money generated by the concert goes to aid the Crossroads Center, which is a nonprofit addiction treatment facility in Antigua.

"Exceptional performances by all, but Jeff Beck, with his girl bass player, and Steve Winwood really take the stage ! I really wish I could have been there, but this is definately the next best thing! Could (and do!) watch this over and over!"

"Great DVD, audio & visual is top notch. Could use a little less Bill Murray & Willie Nelson. Otherwise......Clapton is as usual....great. His playing is always better live, than in studio. He shows he still has chops. However, Derek Trucks & Steve Winwood steal this show. Trucks is just tremendous & Winwood shows many he is more than a keyboard player & singer. Other highlight are Jeff Beck's "Because we ended as Lovers" & Robert Crays' "Poor Johnny" & both tracks by Sonny Landreth (one with EC) & "Maharina" by John McLaughlin."

"I was lucky enough to make the trip to Chicago to see this great show. The entire show was 11 hours long and this DVD set, at 4 hours, captures some of the greatest solos and collaborations of the show. This concert was a festival in every way. The weather was perfect, the audience had a GREAT time and the musicians were havng more fun than a human being should be allowed. No violence, births, deaths or drug use (that I saw.) Just 28000 people having a blast!!"
