"This is the second Eureka Altima HEPA Upright Bagless Vacuum (Refurbished) I have purchased since July of this year. The first one was for a wedding shower and when I saw it, I wanted one for myself. Very efficient, although slightly heavy, it is self-propelled making the chore much more pleasant! The edger works like a dream also. I keep a very clean house and I was amazed at what it found that could not be seen."

"This seemed like it would have been good -- if it worked right! after one day it stopped working correctly and would no longer vacuum. I've had to return it; this is 2 vacuums now for me that I have had to return.It's hit or miss with Overtsock. Better off to look locally for such things. The deal is not worth the risk."

"This vacuum came quickly and was a cinch to set up. Got it working right away, and it's perfect for my humble home. Easy to clean and light enough to carry around to each room. The only problem is that the back wheels do not roll to easily on carpet. No biggie. It's definitly a lot better than my other $300 vacuum that died out on me after 6 months. Great vaccum."

"I was in need of a new vaccum for my apartment. I have horrible allergies, but I love my cats. After bringing in a rescue, the fleas came with him. This vaccum has helped tremendously with my allergies and with controlling the fleas. It's rather quiet and the rescue kitty loves to watch it work. It kicks back some litter, but use the power paw and it comes up great! The power paw is awesome on the furniture. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone. And it came within two days of my order! Talk about speed and talk about a deal. Well worth every cent!"

"I did not realize how poorly my old vacuum was performing until I got this new one and the filter completely filled up with cat hair on the first run through the house. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that my carpet looked like it had been professionally cleaned -- just from vacuuming. I had thought my carpets were in such bad shape that I needed a shampooer as well, but decided to just try a new vacuum first to save money. This vacuum was all I needed. It's much lighter and easier to maneuver than my last one -- doesn't kill your back, arm, or shoulder. I love it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I had to assemble it and the instructions didn't match the model I got, so I thought I was missing a major part and it made putting it together confusing. That was a little frustrating, but all in all I'm pleased with it."

"When I first recieved this vacuum, I was excited to use it and vacuumed two rooms that didn't apper to need vacuuming. I filled the entire vacuum container with dirt, dust, hair etc! I was shocked it picked up all this stuff my other vacuum did not. I am very impressed and extremely satisfied! I did not expect such quality at this price! My kids love to use the mini vacuum that is attached but I had to take it away from them because it was too powerful! I recommend this vacuum to anyone!"

"When I opened the box I was immediately disappointed. This vacuum is more than twice the size of the Eureka Optima model I have been using. It is also very heavy. I live in a 1300 square foot apartment with wood floors and wool rugs and two cats. While the vacuum is more powerful and quieter than the Optima, it "boasts" a wide base that, unfortunately, is too wide to maneuver easily around or under furniture and does not fit between chair legs. The instructions recommend that the vacuum be set at the lowest height when used on bare floors, and I imagine that this does allow more dust to be sucked up, but on the lowest height the roller brush left horrible marks and scratches all over my floors. I was alarmed to see how many threads and fibers were sucked out of my rugs. Also, the extension hose gets "plugged in" to the base when vacuuming floors (part of the odd design) and easily comes out of its housing spitting dust all over the place. I am disappointed to have spent the money on this product that I will be replacing as soon as is economically possible. If you have wood floors, don't buy it. In fact, just don't buy it."

"We have three cats and a dog and our old vacuum cleaner just wasn't doing the job anymore. I needed something that would pick up the fur from the carpet. For the money, this can't be beat! It does a great job with the fur, is easy to use, easy to empty. It's so nice that even our cleaning lady uses it when she comes instead of bringing her own vacuum and she has decided to buy one for herself! I admit, I was a little hesitant about buying refurbished but so far, I'm very happy with my purchase!"

"I have had this vacuum for about 3 months. Although this product is good at getting up animal hair, I have had to open it up 3 times now. The belt broke the first time I used it and I had to go to a local store to get a new one because the manufacture had them on back order (what does that tell you?). Then, hair gets stuck in the upper canister. It is easy enough to get out (just take the removable canister out and stick your hand up there and grab it). Now, the removable "paw" isn't working at all even though I opened it up as well and there is nothing stuck or visably broken. A design weakness is that the coil to the extension is tacked down in the back so that you cannot take full advantage of its length. Again, you would have to take it a part yourself if you want use it fully, but then the coil will be awkward to manage. I am disappointed in this product and figure that i will end up buying another one sooner than later."

"My Bissell died over a little string caught in the brushes....so I immediately went to Overstock and checked out the reviews. This one seemed to warrant trying. It arrived quickly, was easy to put together (two screws) and works like a dream. Like the way the brushes seem to pull you along but don't fight you backing up. Once had a self propelled vacuum that was similar in feel and very expensive. This vacuum cleans very well and is easy to empty the plastic dirt container, does not throw dust around like most inexpensive machines do. I don't know how it will hold up but it looked brand new when it arrived and seems very sturdy. The only thing missing was an extra drive band for the brushes, but there was an instruction sheet with an 800 number to call for anything that was missing."

"I would recommend this slightly heavier unit to anyone who wants a most powerful vacuum cleaner.:-] I've never had a unit that was so powerful in using its handy pickup unit that is carried by the vacuum. Given I have a very large old farmsite style home there are alot of places that need cleaning often. I found the right side 'edge' brush does exactly what Eureka has promised in cleaning right to the walls. I give this unit an A. Albeit, it is heavier that some competitors.. "I have only had this vacuum for a couple of weeks. However, so far I am VERY impressed with the power of this vacuum for the price! I just bought a house and purchased this vacuum. I was astonished (as well as kind of grossed out) to see how much dirt this vacuum found! I went over the carpet 3 times and had a dust-bunny the size of a baseball in there!The vacuum itself is a little heavy for getting upstairs. I also wish the attachment hose was longer. I end up dragging the vacuum with me a bit when cleaning fur off the couch.Overall, I am very satisfied."

"I bought this for my grown son who recently moved into a new apartment. He had a flea problem and had his place fumigated, but the flea eggs were in the carpet and he couldn't get rid of them. After using the vacuum a few times, no more flea eggs and no more fleas!!! He says he didn't realize how dirty his place was until he got the new vacuum. "This cleaner sucked all the cat hair out of my place. The only drawback (which some people have already reviewed) is that it kicks back some of the kitty litter on the floor. But the suction tube accessory cleans up that litter very easily. Nice power paw accessory. Great in reaching under the bed. Dirt cup comes out easily. Came quickly. Like 2 days after ordering quick. For the price, it is WELL worth it."
