The Shack

The Shack

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever.

"truly a life changing book. if you have ever wondered about God, or where the idea of God could ever possibly fit into your life, I promise that you will be able to take at least one thing away from this book that will clarify an understanding for the better. and if you can only take one thing, let me know, because I feel like I walked away with an entirely new perspective. I am so grateful."

"I'm not sure what to say about The Shack, It made me look at love and the people around me and even myself in different way a much nicer way. I think everyone should experience it, because more than a story this book is an experience. I am so sorry for that person that reccomends you pass it up. I'll say open it again you may see it different!!"

"I enjoyed reading the book. At first I was a bit unsure about the contents, but I found that it raised some interesting questions and concepts about who God is and the type of relationship he desires with us. The book did not teach religion, but rather made suggestions as to our common place and our perils as members of the mankind. It was a very thought provoking read."

"This is an excellent book. I already had a copy but loaned it out and ordered several more to give as gifts. When I first heard about the book I thought it sounded a bit wacky, but it is so well-written and the relationships are so genuine that it just gives you a good feeling and you won't want to put it down!"

"This book was on of the most intuitive and creative works I've ever enjoyed reading. I've already begun reading it again, as I am sure I missed a great deal on the first go round. This book is about "God" and how one man views "Him: and the "Trinity". Since this is a mystery we cannot understand as mere mortals, it does help bring us closer to seeing God as a loving and caring Being. No matter what your Christian beliefs are, you will take away something worthwhile from reading this book.."

"What a wonderful way of portraying the relationship of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to man. Even though it's fiction, I enjoyed how the author portrays their relationship with us. It's joy, not fear."

"Hi!,This is a great book to boost your faith and to try to understand that, although God doesn't work the way we'd chose always, HE DOES love us and wants the best for us. Some difficult questions are dealt with in an easy to read, yet deeply. Also this is a great book for someone who has just lost someone he/she loves."

"I can count on one hand the times I have given up on a book half way through, but I gave up on this one without a second thought. Contrary to another review, I think it is, in fact, "preachy" and feels very self-indulgent and self-pitying. I agree with another review that it is poorly written. Very monotonous sentence structure makes it difficult to focus on not very interesting characters. I recommend giving it a pass."

"Overall, this was an interesting concept for a book. I had never read anything like it before. It was a moving story and the idea that you could confront God to get your questions answered was pretty interesting. I have recommended it to several people and all have enjoyed it."

"I read this book on the recommendation of several other people. It certainly gives you a lot to think about. Young doesn't "preach" but tells a story that can renew your faith in God and explain some of those questions that pester so many of us."
