Story Behind the Art:

Uttar Pradesh in northern India is the largest brass and copper-making region in India with many centers of production. The two oldest centers of brass craft are Varanasi and Mirzapur. The best known is Moradabad. The art of brass crafting was introduced when Muslim families arrived in Moradabad with intricate Persian designs and sophisticated tools. Brass craft was patronized by the Mughals and the British.
