Story Behind the Art
This product was created in North Western India. Once the British removed its armed forces from the region in the late 40's a majority of the industries available for the local economy disappeared with them. The indigenous people went back to the traditional crafts and furniture manufacturing that they had known for generations. Several hub cities of industry have flourished, creating numerous, sustainable, and stable jobs for the people of the surrounding villages, to augment the time in between harsh growing seasons. The industry that has been created by products like this has created an unprecedented number of schools, hospitals, and improvements in infrastructure. This industry has truly created a renaissance in economic growth in the region.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

"I bought these two tables to use as a coffee table. I have two couches and not a lot of space in my living room. These tables give me a variety of options. I can push them together to look like one unit or put one near each couch when I have company. I love the versatility and convenience. They're well-made, the color is beautiful, and no assembly! Great for small places, but I wouldn't recommend using them as end tables as they are very short."

"Size and style perfect for what I wanted. Workmanship very acceptable considering the low price. The table is very, very dark brown - almost black, but I knew that from another review."

"This is a cute table, quite sturdy, but as another reviewer mentioned, it doesn't look handmade. Please note the dimensions!! I didn't look closely enough at the size, thinking that all end tables would be roughly the same height. This is only 17" high - very small, and looks a little funny next to my big armchair. I have found another spot to use this table so I'm keeping it (solid wood, and a very good price), but I'm looking for something else larger and taller to use as an end table. On the plus side, no assembly at all."

"I cannot say enough about this table. I bought one, and then the day it got here I loved it so much I immediately went back online and bought another one! It's very sturdy and a great size for what I need...... I may just go online and buy 2 more for a different room I am redecorating!"

"I went back and forth about ordering this table, but usually when I don't I regret it later, so ordered it. In the picture the table looks much more hand hewn - that was what I was attracted to. It looked like an artisan piece. It definitely does not look that way in person. It looks much more contemporary. Everything else about it is nice - the workmanship, the weight, the wood quality. It is VERY tiny, so make sure you measure out what you want to put it beside. It looks terrific next to the slipper chair I got it for, so I guess for the price I am satisfied with it. Just wished it looked more hand made."

"I bought two of these for nightstands for our platform bed (the dark chocolate from West Elm). I used to think that the bed looked black in most light - however, these side tables are so dark, they show that it's actually chocolate. I even put black pants on them to see a contrast. There was none. I'd say these tables are black.Saying that, we're keeping them because they're the perfect size and style - and we're okay with the black. I put "value" at 3 only because I think it's ridiculous what simple small side tables cost. I put "workmanship" at 4 because you an see some seems. They come assembled, which is nice. I would recommend them if you're looking for this style in black."
