Story Behind the Art
Nyoman Rena was born as the third of five children. Young Rena started to learn wood carving when he was in the third year of elementary school. His grandfather, an architect and senior carver, gave much support to Rena's carving and jewelry development. After graduating from elementary school in 1983, Rena was introduced to a famous silversmith in his village by his father. Since then, Rena began learning to craft silver jewelry on Sundays. Rena combines his carving ability with his silver work. He believes that one day his silver crafting will invite the interest of costumers worldwide. He is also studying English so that he can easily communicate with his contacts from foreign countries

"I bought this necklace along with a two other pieces of jewelry. It is small! I was surprised by how small it was and wished it was slightly bigger but the craftsmanship is well done and it's a pretty dark colour. Very nice to look at it...The pearl is really small though, but it sits nicely in the center of the lotus. I would recommend it but my mother said she wouldn't. I agree that the price is a bit high for something so small and considerably in-elaborate but the fact that it supports a family in a not very modern village makes it a worthwhile purchase to me.And did I mention it wasn't very big? :P~4 stars because I'm pleased! Took one off because of the size and price."

"The lotus is antiqued wih a beautiful white pearl of impeccable quality. The chain wasnt too pretty though...it looks pewter but its not, its silver, but it is not shiny..just so u know...have your own silber choker chain ready. Unless you like antiqued chains.

"This is fantastic Artisan's jewelry. Extremely well crafted and it comes in a very attractive jewelry box. A wonderful, timeless, nature inspired design. Just beautiful. It's no wonder National Geographic chose this piece to be part of their Novica collection. This was a gift for my wife and she absolutely loved it. "My parents got this for me for Christmas (with a hint from me) and I love it! The lotus is my favorite flower and when I saw this necklace, I fell in love. It looks even better in person. It's not too big or overdone or anything--it is beautifully simple. I wouldn't want anything done differently on the necklace (though I do wish my hair would quit catching on the chain, haha). I would definitely recommend this necklace to anyone, it is gorgeous and I plan on never letting it leave my sight."
