"bought 2 of these for gifts...ended up keeping one for myself...my daughter in law is happy with her set...and so am i ... these are not for the professional chief...i am so used to my old dull knives that i had to be careful using these, nice assortment included in set...not sure if these can really be sharpened as they age, although sharpener is included. we'll see how they do...great for the price"

"I am a professional chef myself, and although the design is a little dated, they are great value for money, the paring knives are a little too short, and the blades had not been honed, but a few passes over the steel that comes with the set, and you could shave with any one of the knives! The 7" santoku knife especially, i cut crisps (chips in the USA) by hand with this knife with ease! If you are just starting a career as a chef, then these blades are an excellent purchase, learn your trade with these, then move onto the more expensive knives when you are making more money!"

"This knife set is NOT Henkels top of the line knives. But their top of the line knives are for professional chefs like my son. The knives arrived with a distinct burr on one side of the edge. Guess they were not honed after sharpening on a grinding wheel. But a dozen passes over the steel removed the burr.Iit is nice to have a set of sharp knives again!!!!!"

"I bought these knives as a gift for my daughter after she used some inexpensive ones for years. They are of good quality and value for the price and include the essentials in a set. The Eastern style cutlery is a great addition and I liked the design so much I had to add that type of knife to my collection."

"I am an amateur in the kitchen, but love cooking. I have been shopping for a cuttlery set for years that would give me a broad selection of knives at a reasonable price. This set gives me every knife that I was looking for, and the price is unbeatable. While not the top of the Henckels line of knives they are Henckels so the set is still high quality. The knives are light weight but incredibly sharp. Comparable sets sell for twice the price. The perfect starter set for the at home chef."

"I bought these knives to replace a very old and worn out set. I did not take my knife purchase lightly--there is nothing worse than a dull knife! I selected these knives because I knew that JA Henkels has a generally good reputation, and I liked that the set included both "regular" knives as well as Santoku knives. When the knives arrived, I was ecstatic. They are extremely sharp and durable, and sit nicely in your hand. The selection of knives is excellent, and I feel like I always have the right knife for the job. The handles are a little lighter than I might have liked, but nothing to complain about, especially for the price. I would definately recommend these knives!"
