Story Behind the Art:

The wood-carving artisans of Bali, Indonesia are skilled masters. Each has been taught from childhood the proper technique for this unique skill, handed down through generations. These artists are perfectionists and specialize in carving musical hand drums. Each djembe is hand-carved from one piece of environmentally friendly, aged mahogany timber. Artist lovingly hand-carves intricate designs and patterns into the shell, giving every drum a unique look and feel. Every djembe goes through a rigorous inspection process.
