The Story Behind the Product

Nana was born to a family of 9 children in the town of Kumasi in Ghana, West Africa. His parents divorced when he was only 8 years old and Nana became so rebellious that his mother sent him to live with his father in Tamale (in the Northern region of Ghana) when Nana was 12 years old. It was there that he developed an interest in art. He dropped out of school when he was 14 and started training with a master carver in Tamale. In 2000 Nana began selling his products through Worldstock. Nana is now married with 3 children and lives in Accra, Ghana. He is now a master carver with his own shop and 10 employees. Nana?s life has been so improved since he began working with Worldstock that he named his son after his contact at Overtsock.com.

"Very nice workmanship and value. They came packed in a box into which they had been somewhat flattened. The baskets held onto some creases where they were folded, but otherwise are fine."

"Everything about the product was great. I wish they had been packed a little different. When I received them they were wedged inside one another and bent. I finally got them apart but had a harder time getting the bent out of them. All in all they are FAB!"

"These baskets are great! I've used them for everything. They've been great for harvesting vegetables from the garden, holding all my yarn and hauling picnic lunches. They are so sturdy and beautiful. I've gotten so many compliments, I'm considering ordering more for gifts! I've seen similiar baskets in fair trade stores for the 3 times the price. Really a fabulous deal."

"I purchased *one* of these baskets directly from the tribe through a coop once, for the same price I got all three of these! Wow! They are very nice in appearance, sturdy, and can be used for a variety of things. I gave one away, use one to store library books and videos and things that need hauled to my car, and the last one somehow has become a cat bed. There are sooo many things you can do with them!"

"These baskets are even better in person. I'm using one to put my grandaughter's toys in . She's 2 and it's easy for her to grab the basket of toys and of course easy for her to empty :)
I use one for my magazines and the other for a yarn project next to my chair. Overstock is great !!

"I love the 3 baskets. The 2 larger ones are of similar colour, and the smallest is of red and blue stripe. I have not yet reshaped them , although I do plan to in a H2O bath. Value was great , I paid ~40.00 for one of larger size about 7 years ago."

"These are lovely baskets and extremely well made! You do have to do the spraying with water and res-shaping trick because of the packing, but didnt take long or much effort, glad I heard about that in these reviews. My baskets are now perfectly formed and fabulous! I highly recommend these basekts and great price on the 3!"

"I was happy to receive them boxed and pressed down, and wet the baskets and was able to mold them back. I had expected to receive 3 of the same size and this is not clearly communicated on the website, but I received 3 sizes: small, medium, and large; the med had multi-colored stripes, the large had black speckles, the small was plain. The quality was fabulous, but now that I have the 3 sizes, it's not clear that I necessarily got a great bargain."

"I just can't get enough of these beautiful baskets! I have just ordered a third set, and I am planning to give them as gifts to friends and family.
These baskets are roomy and sturdy enough for shopping or storage. It's fun to open the box and see what color combinations you've received.
A perfect gift for someone who appreciates a lovely handcrafted product.
Also, a great value.

"These are beautiful baskets, and I was amazed when I opened the package. One regret is that the basksts were pushed together very tightly during shipping and the shapes were difficult to recover. Still, good craftsmanship! I recommend these baskets for any purposes."

"Very big baskets in three assorted designs in a complementary palette: navy and maroon stripes and checkerboard patterns. Was hoping to get a bright green one but these colors were not offensive. Came smashed in the box but moldable; strong handles and can hold a lot of stuff. Will use them at farmer's market this spring and books, toys around the house."

"These were colorful and well made. They were even larger than I expected. The only problem was that they were squashed but having read other reviews I knew I could get them wet and push them back into shape. It was easy."
