A Christmas Story 2-Disc 20th Anniversary (SE/DVD)

Deliciously warped and winsome boyhood memories of Christmas are told by a typical American man revisiting his native Indiana during the 1940s. Among other childish pursuits, his overriding obsession to finally own a genuine Red Ryder BB gun consumes his feverish imagination. Based on Jean Shepherd's novel, In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.

"The movie delivered - as it has for the past 20+years. It's nice to own a piece of childhood memories. The bonus interviews commenting on the 20th anniversary add a nice holiday touch. It's interesting to see some of the cast now and hear their tales and thoughts from filming the movie. It is a great gift for anyone who holds this movie dear to their heart - and for the dvd collector in your life."

Extraordinary & hilarious movie, November 25, 2006
By Rhondad from Colorado Springs

"My brothers and some of their friends are so enamored of this movie that when they still lived in the Birmingham area, they went every year to see it at the historic Alabama Theater. You don't have to have grown up in the 1950's to find this movie really funny. Some of my favorite scenes are: 1. when Ralphie uses his Little Orphan Annie decoder and discovers that the code is an advertisement; you can't blame the poor kid for getting so mad; 2. when Ralphie gets the most hideous gift you can imagine anyone giving a young boy of 9 or so; 3. the leg lamp; 4. when Ralphie's mother gets his younger brother to eat by encouraging him to pretend he's a pig; 5. when Ralphie's mother dresses his younger brother for the cold weather & the brother can't walk. You get the idea. Throughout the movie Ralphie single-mindedly pursues his dream present - a BB gun. Despite discouragement on every hand, Ralphie still clings to the hope that he will get a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas. I'll let you discover whether his pleas are successful."
