Keep a germ-free, odor-free environment in your home with the Touchless automated trash can. The sensor-activated lid opens automatically so you can toss debris without touching the trash can.
This can uses a patented infrared technology. Place hand or debris about 6 inches away from the infrared sensor near the lid. It will open instantly when you approach and will close automatically in 3 seconds after debris has been released and hand moves away. The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within 6 inches of the infrared sensor. There are two buttons on the front to open and close the lid manually and an on/off switch on the back of the trash can. The can is made of stainless steel and features a poly-resin top. It has a 7-gallon capacity. Tested 100,000 times in the laboratory, the design is built to last for years.

"I would never have thought of an infared automatic opening trash can. This is my second one; the first one is a little larger, and I needed a smaller one closer to the coffee maker (to catch the used coffee filters which can drip and are quite messy). My larger one is over a year old, and I haven't changed the batteries yet. Watch out though, the battery cover came loose from the larger can cover, and I almost lost the second one too. Maybe they will find a way to make it more secure."

"Trash can arrived in lightning speedy time - works wonderfully - my hubby's new 'toy'. He thinks it is really great! Loves to just pass his hand over top have it open automatically for him so he can drop whatever into its room interior. We had a nice stainless step-on can but he thought it was not well designed was cumbersome didn't open smoothly, so this one is a real wonder for him! He is a mechanical engineer and if things don't run smoothly he doesn't care for them at all! Never know, we may be ordering another of these soon - and our daughter will soon be moving into a new home - she may be interested in one as well."
